2) Yes,our sample sumbission system is able to extract from most standard archive file types (zip, rar, 7z, tgz, and many others).

Rather than using the virus submit page you can email your attachments directly to support@samples.immunet.com. Make sure to use the password "infected" on your archive files, and if there is an option to encrypt file names also select that (otherwise mail servers may refuse to forward your files).

 

Our website is hosted by a company called Netsuite, and they are supposed to be up 24x7, however they do have downtime for maintainance on a monthly basis. Ususally lasts for a few hours. There hosting is also why you can't send rar files through the "Submit a virus" link on http://www.immunet.com/contact/index.html.

2) maintaenance time only applies if you submit malware through http://www.immunet.com/contact/index.html. Unfortunatly I don't know when or how long the maintance time is. I sometimes get an email from netsuite a few hours prior to the outage, but not always.

3) If samples.immunet.com can't analyse the file (I think) it is forwarded on to the Clam AV team, who analyze files at their discression. We usually don't hear from them unless we've specifically asked them to look at something.

-If Virus Total says Clam detected then yes, clam would detect the virus.

-If Virus Total says Bitdefender detected a virus, Immunet Plus's Tetra engine will also detect the file

-Virus Total cannot report if Immunet's Spero or Ethos engines will detect.
