sweidre
Who is easy to use Google Chrome and Firefox I have to choose a web browser and confused, Which one do you use? Hi Mike, We have all questions about what browser is preferable! Many users use two or more browsers for testing in different environments. Google Chrome & Chrome Plus (Webkit-based) change versions frequently, Firefox (Gecko-based) 3.6.16 is still used by many users, because all extensions work for this version. Firefox 4 is still is missing some important extensions? (by the way, it is now time to test, if FF4 has got all important extensions on board!) Internet Explorer (IE8 & IE9) (Trident-based) is heavy for many users, so personally, I use Slimbrowser (very small with a lot of language files) based upon the IE platform, because Slimbrowser is very fast for me, but as all browsers built upon the IE platform will never be completely secure! Cheers, sweidre PS. Operas new version should be tested! DS.
sweidre
Hi Mike, I have just checked, that the Slimbrowser (by FlashPeak) supports both: 1. Chinese Simplified & 2. Chinese Traditional Cheers, sweidre

Hello sweidre Thank you for your answer, Slimbrowser really is a great, very fast Web browser, in China, has also been a lot of good evaluation. But I also like the chrome and FF4Select one,
sweidre
Thank you for your answer, Slimbrowser really is a great, very fast Web browser, in China, has also been a lot of good evaluation. But I also like the chrome and FF4Select one, Hi Mike, Google Chrome is good and fast, but not with so well developed extensions as FF3 has. As I am a Swedish translator using the translators website https://translator.immunet.com , I must use a Chromium based browser without many extensions, so therefore, I am using ChromePlus (Chromium based) without extensions. Google Translate works then great! I am now using FF3.6.16, but I got just an email from FileHippo, that there is a new version of FF4 -> FF4.0.1. I hope, that FF4.0.1 will now have the missing security extensions developed, so I must try this new version now! (Regarding browsers with extensions, there will maybe be a minor security flaw, because extensions are not made by the producer of the browser but by 3rd parties!) ritchie58
As a dedicated Firefox user I am still using the older 3.6.16 version because, as you have pointed out Sweidre, that many add-ons, themes and plug-ins do not work with FF4. That's interesting that Mozilla has introduced a new version of 4 already. If this new version addresses the compatibility issue just described I would be willing to give version 4 a try. If not I'll stick with 3.6.16 for a while longer before upgrading. Although I have been recieving numerous updates for my add-ons within the last week or so. I just received one for the Search Engine Security add-on this morning. It is my opinion that Mozilla should have made every possible effort to make extensions backward compatible with the new version in the first place. sweidre
Hello sweidre Thank you for your answer, Slimbrowser really is a great, very fast Web browser, in China, has also been a lot of good evaluation. But I also like the chrome and FF4Select one, Hi Mike, I have today upgraded to Google Chrome 11.0.696.60 and I upgraded from Firefox 3.6.16 to Firefox 3.6.17 without any extension problems. Then I tried to upgrade to Firefox 4.0.1, but there were some extensions from v.3 still undeveloped: (Note, these are extensions I have in FF3, so the list is not complete for others!) 1. Quick Restart (not needed, in fact) 2. FEBE 6.3.3.2 (very important for doing backups of FF) 3. Image Shack Toolbar 5.2.4.8 (not needed just now, but later on for me) 4. Tab Progrees Bar 0.6 (nice to have) 5. G Data Cloud Security 1.011061.1134 (That has been useless for me, so not needed for me at all) 6. Clear Private Data +2.2.3 (very important, when closing FF) 7. Phish Tank Site Checker 0.9.6. (well, it has not reported anything for me, so that one I can skip) 8. Forecastfox Enhanced 0.9.6 (Living in the mountain area, where weather varies, this extension I look at many times a day!) I got two optional buttons "Back" and "OK". I clicked on "Back" and receiveed three buttons "Back" , "No thanks" & " OK". I clicked on "No thanks" and am now updating two extensions of mine. I will now continue with FF 3.6.17 for a while, at least! For me FF 4.0.1 is still not complete regarding extensions! Cheers, sweidre
ritchie58
Thanks for the scoop on the new version Sweidre. I just installed 3.6.17. After the installation I checked out the change log and it had a fairly large list of bugs that this version addresses. I did have 3.6.16 crash on me a couple of times. Of course Mozilla strongly reccomended to me to update to version 4 but I'm still going to wait a while before updating. Thanks again for that my friend! I used ForecastFox Enhanced before and loved it! When I got Windows 7 installed and was installing the add-ons I used before with XP Pro Mozilla told me that the add-on is no longer supported and can't be installed. They recommended I switch to ForecastFox Weather which I did. It does pretty much the same thing except it's not as customizable as the previous add-on. If it's still working for you that's great! At the moment ForecastFox Weather does not work with 4. I know because I already installed 4 on Robert's PC. I updated his to 4.0.1 today by the way. Mozilla says that FF5 may be ready by the end of June! That would be a fast turn around! P.S.- About a month ago you and I had about the same amount of total posts. Now I see you have almost twice as many as me. You have been a very busy boy in the forums lately, lol!!

Now I see you have almost twice as many as me. You have been a very busy boy in the forums lately, lol!! Hi Ritchie, First a minor error in my post above, that I have now corrected! I decided not to go for FF4.0.1 yet! 1. Regarding info, FF has improved! Now FF is telling, what extensions are not available for you prior to installing a new version! Really good to know this beforehand! 2. Forecastfox (nowadays called Forecastfox Extended) I have used for years! If it works for me in FF3.6.17, it should also work for you! (Let's see if it will be developed for FF4, or we have to live with an abbreviated version some time again, we do not know) Toolbars should be avoided in general, but regarding weather forecasts, it is very nice to see the weather day & night max. 8 days ahead) 3. FF5. I have read somewhere, that FF will develop new versions with the same speed as Google Chrome, with many different versions under development at the same time. I would prefer, that FF should follow its own way of development, because Google Chrome is not perfect, in my mind! (It seems, that more browsers will now follow the development of Google and place tabs at the top etc.) Why, should all browsers look similar? The important thing is, that all development of browser will be done considering security/privacy first of all. 4. Number of posts in Immunet. Well, during my long changing period from XP to Win 7, I had not time to take part in the forum. Escpecially, when Orlando was almost alone supporting members including newbies, I decided to take a greater part in the forum. Ok, I cannot support the members as Orlando does, but I could not stand that he was alone there. Fortunately RobT & Anthony now & then turn up in the forum, so the situation is not as critical now. Maybe, I will not attend the forum so often in the future, let's see! Cheers, sweidre
ritchie58
I am glad to see that Orlando has some help now. I think you did the right thing by trying to help out. After all that's what this forum is all about!

After all that's what this forum is all about! Hi, In addition to this, I have seen, that many members are really trying to help someone in trouble. But of course, an admin/mod must then lead the thread in the correct direction, if the thread is heading in the wrong direction! ritchie58
I agree with that. Just like the creed doctors use. First do no harm then try to help if necessary.
