Immunet Cannot Connect To Internet

Recommended Posts

I have just installed version 3.0.1.6112 on Windows Vista SP2. When clicking on "Scan now", Immunet responds "Immunet 3.0 cannot connect to the internet. Please ensure your computer is connected to the interest and retry". Agent.exe and iptray.exe are both authorised by my firewall (Avira Premium Security Suite 10 v10.0.0.621 with firewall v10.01.20.06). Immunet seems to be able to connect to internet when clicking "Update Now" and responds that it is up to date, and is listed by the firewall as having an active connection.

Any help gratefully appeciated.

Steve

Hi Steve_Schofield,

1. Check that the service Immunet 3 (Agent.exe) is really running! Under "services" Immunet 3 should have status = Started and Start Method = Automatic

2. If item 1 above is correct, but the problem remains, restart your computer.

Cheers,

sweidre

Hi Sweidre, and thanks for your message.

Yes, Immunet 3 is running (in "MS management console" status = Atarted and Start Method = Automatic as you said). A restart doesn't seem to have fixed it.

Update - disabling Avira firewall seems to allow Immunet to work (although both Agent.exe and Iptray.exe were authorised)

Hi Steve_Schofield,

I am not an expert in this, but let us try a little more!

Is Scan Now shaded out?

If you click on Scan Now, do you get 3 options:

1. Flash Scan

2. Custom Scan

3. Full Scan

Select Flash Scan (scans only the current running activities. This scan takes max 2 minutes. When finished, is your computer OK now?

The problem is that almost no admins or moderators are attending this Forum during holidays.

Bye for now,

sweidre

Hi Steve,

Go to Settings ->Protection Exclusions

The Exclusions List acts as a sort of "whitelist", that Immunet ignores completely.

Have you Avira on the exclusion list?

Then the paths to Avira should be added to the list. Use "Add New Exclusions" to add more paths regarding "Avira", so that Immunet will ignore Avira completely!

Bye for now,

Sweidre. Thanks very much.

I think the issue is solved - if the Avira firewall is set on "High" is seems to prevent Immunet from working (I had Immunet Agent.exe on the whitelist but this didn't seem to make any difference). If I change the Avira firewall security level down to "Medium" everything seems to work fine. Perhaps a bug with Avira?

Thanks again for your help, Sweidre.

Hi Steve,

I am glad, that you managed by setting Avira from "High" to "Medium". I hope, that you can survive over the weekend with this "temporary" solution! Over the weekend there are almost no experts attending this forum. Immunet Staff (admins & moderators) are working only US Mountain Time Mon-Fri 9-5! But sometimes they pay a short visit to this forum also during holidays. The active admins are RobT and Anthony. Please, write a PM (private message) to them, that you need some assistance to setup Avira & Immunet properly together!

Cheers,

sweidre
