Allow Copy/paste

When I3.0 quarantines something, it would be nice to be able to copy and paste the DETAILS of the item quarantined. Other aspects of the product should be 'copy and pasteable' as well. The product needs copy/paste throughout.

Hi WacoJohn,

What do you mean by "copy & paste"? If you mean copy & paste a picture of your qurantine (.jpg, bmp,....), I think, you can use a screenshot software and place the picture whereever you like!

If you mean copy & paste of the real files in qurantine, I think, you will get into a real problem, because the qurantined files are put there due to regarded malicious. If they were tried to be copied & pasted elsewhere outside the qurantine, Immunet will only try to quarantine them again! If you define an exclusion path first, where you want to copy the files to, it sounds possible. But I think, that the very attempt to paste the malicious copies will be immediately qurantined! In our current version, anyhow! If you by DETAILS mean INFO of the files (in eg. txt-format), that should not be qurantined, in my mind.

Cheers,

sweidre

No, no, no. Example: Right now, I have two items in quarantine. The first 'view' lists the items only. To see DETAILS, I have to click on an item. I then get something like (and I HATE having to type this):

Event Type

Quarantine Successful

Detection Name

Clam.Trojan.Agen-165318

File Path

C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\C20XQ54Y\SurfAnonymousFree-2.1.0.8.Setup[3].exe

Date

5/20/2011 8:39:59 AM

THEN .. to get details of the other item, I have to click on it .. and try to 'capture' the details on that one also. Yes .. I COULD do a screen shot (in this case, TWO of them) ... but screen shots are appropriate in SOME cases and text is appropriate in other cases. A product 'IMPROVEMENT' would be to allow me to mark, copy, and paste this kind of data. Those cases would be posting such info in this forum as opposed to a screen shot (getting screen shots into this form requires several steps). Submitting FPs in some cases requires zipping a FILE. Temp files are hard to 'zip' and submit. Screen shots are one way to communicate .. pasting text is another .. and one is suitable in some cases where the other is suitable in other cases.

Not to mention .. mark/copy/paste is a 'feature' of the OPERATING SYSTEM .. and applications, such as I3.0 should provide that feature .. as do most applications.

Hi WacoJohn,

Now I understand, what you mean! The DETAILS cannot be copied/pasted, because it is not possible to highlight ( = mark ) the text for copying to clipboard & then pasting. There is no way! This is an important thing, to fix by Immunet. Now, you have posted this thread in the category "Ideas", that is a category no admins or mods is reading! (They are busy with FPs, you know!) I think, that there is a greater chance, that admins/mods will study threads placed in the categories "False Positives", Malware Removal" or "Defects". If no admin or mod is visiting this thread, posts must be added to this thread by us frequently to have it on top of the agenda!

Cheers,

Hi WacoJohn again,

As originator of this thread (you have posted the first post), you can do the following:

1. Go to your first post

2. Click on "Edit"

3. Click on "Use Full Editor"

4. Now you can change both Topic Title & Topic Description:

4a.) Topic Title: Copying to Clipboard not possible in Immunet

4b.) Topic Description: e.g. Details of posts in Qurantine

You are not able to change category from "Idea" to anything else! (I think only admins/mods can do that!?)

Cheers,

sweidre

I can appreciate your suggestion on popularizing my post/suggestion. I hesitate to post something in the 'wrong' forum ... forum moderators don't seem to like that. While the post may be better noticed elsewhere, I do not want to aggravate any moderators (or anyone else).

If this forum is not monitored effectively, that is another problem .. and not particularly mine. I would rather remain 'proper' and unnoticed than 'noticed' for the wrong reasons.

Again, I commend you in your efforts to help improve the forum and the Immunet product. While your intentions are stellar, I will decline posting in what could be the wrong forum.

What I post is not copyrighted .. and anyone is free to take from it what they will, .. and do with it what they wish. Feel free to 'take the idea' and present it as you see fit.

Hi WacoJohn,

I understand your intention to place topics into the correct categories! We should all try to do so! But this topic is about details in the quarantine, so it can have been placed in many categories in fact: "Ideas", "Malware Removal", "False Positives", "Malware Detection", "Defects" etc.

Cheers,

sweidre

PS. But of course, all it is up to you! It is your topic and I agee to 100%, but I will not "steal" your post and post it as a duplicate somewhere else! DS
