WacoJohn
I downloaded a file from CNET. drivermax.exe. Saved it to my desktop. Immunet 3.0 FREE did not 'object' in any way .. no warnings, no quarantine. Once it was on my desktop, I decided to scan it specifically .. using MS Security Essentials first. It scanned 'fine'. Then, I right clicked on it, and selected IMMUNET PROTECT/SCAN NOW and in a few seconds, Immunet window opened. It shows it scanning .. but it has been scanning for 8 minutes now. The file size is 3.69MB in size. MSSE scanned it in a few seconds. I am not sure IMMUNET will ever finish scanning it. I have two options .. PAUSE, and STOP SCAN. I am going to give it 5 more minutes and then going to STOP SCAN unless it finishes. This does not seem right .. already. EDIT: More info. It finally completed .. after 15 mins/7 seconds. It DOES work .. thought for a minute there was a bug. Sorry.

Hi, In my mind 15 mins/7 secs is too long scanning time of a file size 3-4 MB only, even if Scan Archive/Packed Files is ON or OFF! Maybe other processes running at the same time used all resources? If you scan this file again, maybe the scan time will be shorter!? Cheers, sweidre

Scan Archive/Packed was ON. I no longer have the file (did not like the product) so I just now did a scan on another exe (packed) file .. 4,006KB and it scanned in less than 2 seconds. I have several products that do synchronizing at times (Evernote, Fahmon, Google Calendar Sync, etc). Maybe that has something to do with the long scan time. Hi, Hi WacoJohn, We have all programs, processes, & services running in the background, so now and then our computers are out of resources, because many are running at the same time. Those can be monitored by softwares like ProcessHacker, TaskManager, ProcessExplorer etc. that can "kill" some of them, if needed! (But those monitoring softwares take up resources also!) ritchie58
That is along time. I recently scanned the folder I use for jpeg files which is over 1 1/2 gigs and it only took about 3 minuets to complete.
sweidre
Hi WacoJohn, Please, browse the following thread in this forum: "Agent.exe Constantly Writing To Disk After Scheduled Scan " http://forum.immunet.com/index.php?/topic/958-agentexe-constantly-writing-to-disk-after-scheduled-scan/page__pid__5894&do=findComment&comment=5894 Are the problems related? Rob.T
Hi WacoJohn, I believe the problem your seeing is that the "scan complete" message was lost. The Immunet interface (iptray.exe) and scan agent (agent.exe) are two different programs: the interface is responsible for interacting with the user, and the agent is responsible for scanning files. E.g. when the user initiates a scan the interface sends a message to the agent telling it to scan a particular file or directory, the agent starts scanning and sends progress and scan complete messages back to the interface. One of the design decisions that was made early on with Immunet was the the way these two processes would communicate with each other. The method we went with is fast and lightweight, but sometimes results in the mesasges sent between these two process` becoming laggy, or sometimes even lost completly (which is what I think happened in your case). We are aware of the problem and are working on a solution.
WacoJohn
Hi WacoJohn, I believe the problem your seeing is that the "scan complete" message was lost. Ahhh .. with that being a recognized issue, I tend to 'go with that'. I rarely scan specific files .. but the problem has not recurred. We will let it go at that for now. Thank you all for all the great input.
