How Can I Get More People In My Immunet Community

Hello everyone,

Today I installed Immunet on my PC. And I send some people an email to get into my community. But the Immunet program says that my protection factor is zero. Am I allowed to send people from here an invitation? So I get more protection?

Hello ErikHolland, It wouldn't be advisable to post your email address at this forum as you might get spammed. Using private messages is the best approach. You are more than welcome to connect to my roomy's and my Immunet community so check your private messages. I'll send you our addresses. Best wishes and welcome aboard! ritchie58... P.S. - For any new user who wishes to add a few fellow users to their "personal communities" feel free to private message me for an address exchange. Mine or yours, whatever you feel most comfortable with. Always happy to add a new member to my community!

Hello everyone,

Invitation Procedure

Immunet Front Sheet -> Community -> My Community -> Add people -> Enter Email address of your friend -> Click on "Add"

1.) If you send invitation emails in your neighbourhood to your friends, who not are registered members (=users) of Immunet, they must accept downloading/installation/registration of Immunet. First then, they will turn up as members in your community. This procedure can take time, and maybe your friends will not downloading/installation/registration of Immunet, at all!

2.) If you send invitation emails to other already members (=users) of Immunet, it will take as per my experience 1-3 days before they turn up as members in the community. (They are already registered members!)

Protection factor (PF)

Even if the members have turned up into your community, some of them has the PF = 0, because they have not yet established a community of their own. Members with PF = 0 are not yet contributing to (increasing) your own PF. The calculattion of PF has earlier been explained by admin Millard, but it was a bit complicated, so I have now forgotten it. Anyhow, it will take a lot of time until you will notice an increase of your own PF! Be patient or write a PM to Millard.

Cheers,

sweidre

Hello,

Normally I dont try new things often. Mostly I do the opposite. Can Immunet be used with Norman Security Suite?

I will try it a few days, maybe more.

So I have to wait for a higher Protection Factor. I think I will add users of this forum first. Because maybe other friends will not use Immunet.

Will Immunet scan my computer for the threats, found in the cloud?

Hi ErikHolland,

1. Norman Security Suite

I do not know, if Immunet & Norman are cooperating nicely? A couple of days ago, a forum user, who used MSE (= Microsoft Security Essentials) got the signatures of MSE quarantined in Immunet (75 items). Admin RobT told the user to put the path of MSE on the Exclusion List of Immunet. (Paths on the Exclusion List are completely ignored by Immunet!) As Norman is not on the Exclusion List today, I suggest, that you go to Settings -> Protection Exclusions -> Add New Exlusion by precautionary reasons. The added exclusion(s) should be the path(s) to your Norman directory (ies). I do not know Norman, but if Norman has an exclusion list (=whitelis), put then the path to Immunet directory there.

2. Protection

You are protected in two ways: 1.) Via the Immunet Cloud (with now 1 597 293 people protected) & 2.) Via My Community

So even if, your Protection Factor in your own community is = 0 or low, you are already protected from the community Cloud!!

3. Scanning

Scanning of your computer is now done for 25 721 037 threats found in the cloud, a number that will increase minute by minute!

Cheers,

sweidre

Hi Erik,

Wait & See is the Best Policy! Development of Your Personal Community can wait, because you are always protected by the Immunet Community Cloud!

Hello,

Yeah, i read that the usual anti virus programs does not work. That is why people from Symantec created Immunet.

I deleted Immunet from my computer and re-installed it. But my community was back. I think because it does not stand on the program on my computer, but in the cloud on internet. When i deleted Immunet and re-installed it again, i saw Ritchie and Robert back in my community.

Maybe i can compare it with p2p programs. The more hubs you have, the more you can download. The more people you have in your community, the more protection you have, right?

I have another question. When i remove Norman Security Suite, can i keep Immunet on my computer? Or do i have to de-install Immunet first?

I hope i will see you soon, Sweidre, in my community, ok?

Hi Erik,

1. OK! If you uninstall Immunet & reinstall it, you will get your community back. The reason for this is, that when you login to the forum using your email address officially given to Immunet , you will see your community again. This means, that if you have to reinstall Immunet for some reason, you do not have to start from scratch inviting members again! (One problem is that you cannot remove members from your community; maybe admins can do that, if needed?)

2. Do you have to remove Norman Security? Why not keep Norman in parallell with Immunet? (Provided, that you add Norman on the Exclusion List, as I earlier mentioned) Why not have Immunet as a second opinion of Norman? To reply to your question: I think, that Norman & Immunet can be uninstalled independently of each other!

3. I have in a PM to you given you my email address, but I have not received any invitation yet from you. And I have not received your email address, so I cannot invite you. After submitting this post, I will send a new PM to you with 2 alternative email addresses of mine.

Cheers,

sweidre

I have Immunet running on 2 32bit computers/OS and 1 64bit computer/os. No problem.

As Sweidre mentioned, you can invite anyone with an email address to join your community. IF you invite someone who already HAS Immunet on their computer .. it is a 'simple' routine. If you invite someone who never heard of Immunet, they will get the invitation but need to go through the sign up and download routine .. which some people may not choose to do.

Know this .. I don't know if it is a 'bug' or a procedural error, but I have Sweidre in my community right now .. AND ALSO an invitation to him PENDING. Drives me crazy. I THINK it happened because I sent him an invitation and he accepted, then he sent me an invitation and I accepted. One of the invitations 'registered' and the other is stuck in PENDING. I don't know if that is the cause of the problem .. just guessing.

Hello,

With Hotmail i couldn't make an account for Immunet. With Yahoo it DID work. So i use Yahoo for Immunet. When i want to make another account with Hotmail, i have to add the guys again, who are now in my community. That are 4 people.

Hi Erik,

I have already ErikHolland as a member in my community with a Dutch or Luxembourg flag (from the top: 3 horisontal lines: red, white, & blue). Thanks! You have not mentioned your country in your profile page, but you have received a flag anyhow! I hope, that you have got me in your community with a Swedish flag!

Cheers,

Hello,

Ok, i saw it. I scanned my pc, today. And Immunet says that Bejeweled2.exe is a threat. But that is not the case. How can i make Immunet to ignore that file? Is there an ignore list possible in Immunet?

Sweidre, i saw you in my community with a Swedish flag.

Hi Erik,

1. If you are sure, that Bejeweled2.exe is clean = " false positive", and Immunet has placed it in quarantine as a malware, you should highlight the file in the left pane of the quarantine, click on button "restore" and the file will be restored to its original place (see path in the right pane!). If you have the latest Immunet version 3.0.2.6548, Immunet will automatically add that path (& file) into the Exclusion List ( = Whitelist), so Immunet will not scan that path & file any longer. ( If you have an older version of Immunet you must add the path ( & file) manually to the Exclusion List found here: Settings -> Protection Exclusions -> Add New Exclusion).

Then you should follow the routine pinned in the forum by administrator Anthony and send an email to support@samples.immunet.com with the file compressed into zip- or 7z- format for analysis. Within 2 hours (US Mountain Time Mon-Fri 9-5) you will have a reply (malware or false positive). Automatically Immunet will report the result to the Community Cloud.

2. Good! I am in your community, and you are in mine!

Cheers,

sweidre

Can i delete the Quarantine History, and how?

Hi Erik,

To get a reply to this question, I hope the moderator Orlando or the administrators RobT, Anthony, or Millard will reply to this!

Hello Sweidre,

Now my Protection Factor is 1.106. I saw my email and someone wanted to invite me, but i declined. I don't think it was someone from Immunet. Because in Immunet there was no message, when i looked by community. Immunet stopped 158 threats.

Talking about Orlando, RobT and Anthony, i can also invite them. I send an invitation by typing a message and my email address. Just like i did with you.

And I did not receive a message from Pedersen, yet. Maybe it will come soon. I did send a message to a few members and Administrators. Or is that a bad idea?

And sometimes Immunet says, that it is installing some trusted files. Why is that? Or can it be program files who are send to the cloud of Immunet?

Hi Erik,

Your Protection Factor is still low, regardless if the PF = 1.106 or 1,106! I think, that invitations can only come from members using Immunet. To get a lot of members is OK, but better is to try to get a few members with a big Protection Factor = number of people protected multiplied with the number of threats blocked. I have from before a few members, who have many people protected & many threats stopped, but their Protection Factors = 0, because, they have changed email addresses, I think:

A. Pedersen: PF = 0, with 105 people protected, 364 threats stopped

B. Oliver Friedrichs: PF = 0, with 270 people protected, 337 threats stopped

C. Mo: PF = 0 with 328 people protected, 715 threats stopped

D. Charles Buck: PF = 0, with 348 people protected, 689 threats stopped

E. Alfred Huger: PF = 0, with 348 people protected, 586 threats stopped

These guys have many people protected and many threats stopped in their communities, so in fact their (PFs) Protection Factors should be huge. That their PF = 0 can be due to change of email addresses. So these guys should be contacted to get their new valid email addresses. ( I have sent a PM to Pedersen to get his new email address, but still no answer!)

Then we have Millard Arnold: PF = 264,344 with 381 people protected, 692 threats stopped. The fact, that Millard still has a huge PF, I think is due to that he is still using his old email address (by security reason I will not write it here in this official forum, but I think I gave you Erik in a PM the email address of Millard )

Cheers,

sweidre
