How To Block "rouges" Online?

Hi,

I wonder, if anybody knows any freeware or shareware product, that will:

1. Block "rouges" to enter the computer (online)

2. Scan the computer for "rouges" and if possible also remove them (offline)

By definition "rouges" are not malwares recognised by Antivirus or other Antimalware products. But even if "rouges" are not regarded as malwares, they can really make your computer unusable! I know a software Combofix.exe (freeware), that removes "rouges" (& rootkits), but it is working outside Windows in the blue screen environment (MS DOS or PC DOS, I am not sure). It is said, that Combofix.exe can also act proactively and block "rouges". The main problem with Combofix.exe is, in my mind, that it can only be installed in a computer, if the computer has no Antivirus product installed. So using Combofix.exe on a daily basis is, in my mind, not advisabe at all!

Cheers,

Malwarebytes does a good job dealing with Rogues. The paid version has real-time protection. The free version allows you to scan and clean infections offline.

Hi Malcontent',

Thank a lot! In fact, I have Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Pro installed as an online shield starting with the computer startup & a scheduled systemdisk scan every three hours! I did not know, that Malwarebytes' has these anti -"rouges" features as well!!!! I hope, that many members will study this post of yours!

Again, thank you!

There is also software programs that use behavior analysis/blocking or a HIPS feature that would be useful in detecting rouges. I currently use two such programs. Emsisoft's Mamutu and Comodo Internet Security's Defense+ sandboxing feature. These two actively running programs give me peace of mind when it comes to these fake software, unknown and/or zero day threats.
