Immunet Trial Not Ending Quietly

Recommended Posts

My Immunet free trial just ended, and it claims to have stopped working entirely. The available information on the Internet seems to indicate that it should simply downgrade to the free version at this point, but the annoying "Your protection is lost" messages and the "No Cloud Activity (0 people are protected)" heading seem to indicate otherwise. I picked the free trial at the recommendation of the installer, which seemed to indicate that it would be risk-free; I never really wanted any more than the free version. How can I get Immunet to quietly go back to the free version? (I wish that this option had been available even before the trial ended, to spare me those annoying "Your free trial has X days left" messages.)

Immunet version: 3.0

Operating system: Windows 7

Hi,

You must uninstall Immunet, then when you reinstall, by the installer, choose Immunet FREE in the comparative tamble.

People who opt to try the trial version of Immunet Plus do find out the hard way they must uninstall and then reinstall to get the free version to work. At the very least perhaps people should be informed that after the trial ends that these steps are necessary. I believe it would be best if after the trial expires the program automatically reverts to the free version just to avoid any confusion, loss of protection and for the convenience of the user. I hope this issue is looked at for a possible change. My thoughts on the issue anyway.

That depends, if using the built in uninstaller there is an option that asks you if you plan to reinstall Immunet in the future. If you say no to this then you get a clean uninstall. If you say yes then your previous settings will be saved and reimplemented during the reinstall. The uninstall tool is for users that encounter a problem or clicked on the wrong uninstall option during the uninstall process and have found left over elements.

Performing a normal uninstall/reinstall didn't do the job - I had to answer "No" to "Do you intend to reinstall Immunet in the future?" in order to get it to switch to the free version. When I uninstalled the free version over the settings from the trial version (I tried it twice), it just kept telling me that my trial was expired. On the third try it worked, due to the clean uninstall.

I tried the trial version myself too but that was quite a while ago. If I remember right I went through about the same thing you did Brilliand. That's why in the earlier post I said it would be great if the program just automatically reverted to the free version when the trial ended. Glad to hear you got things sorted out. So the lesson learned here is: if you want a clean uninstall click "NO" to Immunet remembering your settings.
