Uninstall/re-Install - Re: Licences

Hi All

Newbie here so be gentle.

I have just become a fully paid up member of the Plus club. Quite happy so far, I feel I have invested in something more than just a plain old AV product. But, as always I have a question. Sorry by the way if this is posted in the wrong location, or already been answered. I did do a quick search but couldnt find much reagrding uninstalling / unregistering and re-installs with regards to licences.

I have purchased the full whack, 3 pc's, 2 years. Currently only installed on one laptop thus far. What I am concerned about is if (for technical reasons) I have to rebuild this same laptop, and re-install ImmunetPlus.. am I re-using the 1 licence, the first I originaly took up? (as it's the same pc I think it should be) Or have I just taken up a second un-willingly?

I have a habit of tinkering and breaking my pc's, being an IT Engineer an all, comes with the job. So rebuild my own a few times a year.

Hope I explained it well.

Thanks in advance for your help folks. ;)

Matt

Have not received licenses from third place in each location?

Each license lasts two years, if you made the contract that you said.

Hi Orlando, thanks for your reply. rolleyes.gif

Although I'm not sure I understand your response. huh.gif What do you mean "Have not received licenses from third place in each location?" unsure.gif

I know the licence I received lasts 2 years... but I bought a package for 3 pc's for 2 years. But only received 1 licence code after the payment screen. So I assume this 1 licence code is good for 3 pc's.

How does that licence code know it has been used? and on which pc(s)? and most importantly, if it is currently still in use?

unsure.gif

If I install ImmunetPlus on all 3 pc's, then format one, will I have a problem reinstalling ImmunetPlus again? From my experience it should not matter how many times this software is installed, and it shouldn't matter on how many different pc's it is installed... Just so long as that licence key is only 'active' on 3 pc's at any given time.

So how does the licence system work?

I have used a lot of software for many years, some using very complex registration and licensing techniques.. but so far this does seem really quite vague.wacko.gif

TollyBugg,

Let me explain how the licensing works and one of the current limitations that we have to manually work around for now. Basically, if you purchased a license for 3 computers, 2 years that license is registered on the first computer you install it on and the time starts ticking on the Cloud. When you add a second computer with the same license key, it checks the Cloud and makes sure you can install it on a second machine (not expired and there are still computer installs available for that key). The same occurs for a third install. If a fourth came in, then the cloud would not license the key and you won't be able to use any Plus features.

Now the limitation. Let's say you have to rebuild the first machine, right now there is no mechanism to automatically unregister the license with that machine to allow you to move it to the next. To manually work around this, just email support@immunet.com either your Support Diagnostics file (http://support.immunet.com/tiki-read_article.php?articleId=10) or the license key. Probably if you're already rebuilt the machine, you'll no longer have the diagnostics file, so they should be able to determine what is going on with the key.

Ahh ok, thank you for explaining. Just so long as I can contact someone to sort it out, that's all that matters.

Cheers Millard cool.gif
