Invitations To "my Community"

Hi,

By security reason, "My Community" can only be increased by giving email addresses via PMs (Private Messages). Can the chatroom be used for exchanging of email addresses at a certain point of time? Is the number of participants in the chatroom unlimited? Is the chatroom a secure environment? Any comments about this idea, please!

Cheers,

sweidre

Hi Sweidre,

Currently there are no plans to improve or change the functionality of My Community. My Community is also the source of a huge number of support calls and in order to reduce this negative an idea was thrown around My Community might be taken out of the product some day. Nothing has been decided though.

Hi Stephen, the My Community feature is one of the things that makes Immunet truly unique in a very competitive AV marketplace in my view. That's one of the reasons why I tried Immunet in the first place. I personally would hate to see it go. Instead I wish some effort was directed at fixing the bugs that exist within that part of the software.

Hi,

In my mind, I hope, that Immunet will arrange a poll in this forum: Shall "My Community" remain in the product or not? (Yes/No). If the result of the poll will be a clear "Yes", I suggest that the "bugs" in "My Community" will be fixed (maybe thru changing the FREE version into a BASIC version subject to a minor fee USD 5-15 valid for lifetime -> This leads to poll number 2!)

Cheers,

sweidre

PS. "My Community" makes Immunet unique from other AV products on the software market! DS

1)What the reason of community when you have the same protection when u are connecting in basic server.

2)What is the reason for someone to pay something that others give it for free.

Hi boombastik,

1.) Do we know, if the basic server (the cloud) gives the same protection as "My Community"? This issue must first be clarified by Immunet! By linking "friendship" into automatic mutual membership in the "My Communities" the social relationship between "friends" will be strengthened without revealing the email addresses! (These are known only by Immunet staff!)

2.) By adding a minor fee for Immunet FREE (BASIC), the many bugs in Immunet can sooner be ironed out by financing adding more staff (=programmers). You write: "that others give it for free". Free cloud-based AV products are not many (I know only Panda AV Cloud, that is in mind inferior to Immunet). By paying a minor fee, also the Immunet forum might admit only paying members to get rid of all annoying spammers.

Cheers,

sweidre

PS. Prior to discussing pros & cons regarding "My Community", Immunet must first decide, if a poll (or two) will be arranged. Maybe Immunet will cancel "My Community" without consulting the users! DS

The reason for an av company, that give something free to users is to help the company to fix bugs in pro version (the version that cost money).

For example me. When i use it for free, when i find a bug, i post it here on the forum , so i help also the pro version.

And with statics companies that dont give something free in future they failed.

A simple example is that they lost all the malware samples from free users, bug reports, false positives.

If u search, many malware samples for avast are uploaded from free users.

Also, all the forums have spammers, but it is not right only the paid persons to have the opportunity to make an ask or to say something here in forum.

Sorry for my english.

And again this is my personal opinion.

Hi Boombastik,

Maybe we are a bit outside the subject now, but I will reply to you as good as I can:

1. You are right, that often FREE versions exist in order to fix bugs for the PRO version as well. Regarding Immunet the FREE version is pure cloud-based, but the PLUS version has in addition the TETRA module (computer-based). So the FREE version can be a frontrunner of PLUS excluding the TETRA module. Partly correct!

2. FREE version can as a frontrunner create a marketshare for the PLUS version. Correct!

3. Bug reports, False Positives & other experience data from the FREE version will benefit the PLUS version (and later the ENTERPRISE version). Correct!

4. Avast AntiVir Personal - Free Antivirus v.10 is a good computer-based AV software, but it is not cloud-based as Immunet FREE. So we cannot compare this two AVs! (Comparison of apples & pears!)

Nothing says, that Immunets Frontrunner (FREE) can be given a small price tag! (Of course cheaper than the PLUS & ENTERPRISE versions!)

Nothing says, that Immunet FREE = BASIC cannot have a "My Community" as PLUS has! (I cannot talk about the ENTERPRISE verson, because it is not issued yet!) The main thing is, as I said before, is "My Community" a supplement to the "Immunet Cloud", or not!? Only the Immunet staff can give a proper reply to this!

5. All forums have spammers! Correct! Members of a forum consisting of paid softwares only (no freewares) is not so inclined (disposed) for spamming, in my mind! (My speculation only)

Cheers,

sweidre
