hal2k2
Hello So far I am impressed!!! First of all I am sorry if this is a topic elsewhere on this forum, I searched for "firewall" and it appears that there are not threads specific. I have version 3.0 and I believe a trial version of plus. In settings I see no setting pertaining to "firewall". Is "firewall" available in any Immunet product? Thanks in advance Hal

Hi Hal, For the moment the Immunet products (FREE and PLUS) have no Firewall module. Soon there will be a 3rd product: "ENTERPRISE" version. I have not got any info, if this ENTERPRISE version will have a Firewall . (But about future nobody can tell!) Cheers, sweidre

sweidre
Guess for the time being I will have to "depend" (?) on the windoze firewall ... YUK Hi Hal, Have you tested Comodo Internet Security 5.5 dated 27 July, 2011 (Freeware)? It Works for Vista & Windows 7. Can be downloaded from CNET: http://download.cnet.com/Comodo-Internet-Security/3000-2239_4-10460704.html (there is also a review!) I have not used it, but Ritchie58 is using it! The profile page of Ritchie58 is here: http://forum.immunet.com/index.php?/user/175-ritchie58/ , from where you can write a PM (private message) to him and discuss his experience of Comodo! Cheers, sweidre
ritchie58
Hello hal, You don't have to PM me. Yes, I would recommend Comodo Internet Security over the Windows Firewall. First of all it's free, and highly more customizable and informative. Creation of customizable outbound rules is much easier than the Windows Firewall and is low on system resources compared to other free 3rd party Firewalls such as ZoneAlarm. If you're not that familiar with tweaking firewall settings the default settings after installation will give you adequate protection however. Comodo's security suite comes with the Firewall, Defense+ (which is a type of H.I.P.S. feature) and an anti-virus. If your using the "Plus" version of Immunet Protect (or some other paid anti-virus product) I would recommend you "do not" install the anti-virus portion of Comodo's offering as you do not need it. Only the Firewall and the Defense+ features. You do have the option to choose which modules you want during installation. Choose the appropriate installer package for your operating system (32bit or 64bit installer). Comodo's Firewall is a great product but it's not without it's shortcomings. The automatic updater can bog your system down a little when it phones home to look for any updates but that usually only takes a few seconds. Longer boot up time. Some users have encountered problems updating to a new version, as I did once. If you give CIS a go and have any questions feel free to post them here or private message me. Regards, Ritchie... P.S. - Don't forget to turn Windows Firewall OFF after you install CIS. Running two Firewalls is not recommended by the experts as system instability and unexpected behavior can occur.
