Help - Trojan Suspected

I went to google images, clicked on an image, and my PC gave me a blue screen saying it was shutting down for security reasons, then it automatically rebooted before I could read further or stop it. After the reboot I went to run Immunizer 3 free version. It refused to run a scan saying that "Sourcefire agent is not running, Please restart the service and retry."

SO HOW DO I DO THAT ?? (Why do I have to ask?)

Hello deiss, It does sound like you very well may have been infected with something. I would assume you already tried rebooting and using a System Restore Point. So agent.exe won't start now. Many types of malware will disable any security software you currently have installed but try to start Immunet manually by using the Command Prompt with Administrator privileges. Type in net stop immunetprotect, wait a few minutes, then type net start immunetprotect. If Immunet does start run a full scan then. If agent.exe still won't start you may have to run a malware scan in Safe Mode by pressing F8 while booting up your machine. Use Safe Mode "with Networking." Download, install and update Malwarebytes. Reboot and then use Safe Mode "without Networking" and run a complete scan with Malwarebytes of all your HDD's. Good luck and I hope this helps. Regards, Ritchie...

Glad to hear it! Your computer shut down before the malware had a chance to install perhaps. Some newer model Intel CPU chips do have built-in anti-malware/self-protection capabilities which would be one plausible explanation for the behavior you encountered. One suggestion would be, since you're using the Free version of Immunet which doesn't have rootkit scanning, you might want to consider installing and running a dedicated rootkit scanner just to be on the safe side (I use Kaspersky's TDSSKiller myself, it's freeware, it has a simple to use GUI, will detect all known rootkits and gets updated frequently). However, if you do encounter agent.exe unexpectedly stopping or any other strange behavior with Immunet again could you please submit a SDT report. Info on how to do that can be found here.
