Develop Faqs!

Hi,

The thread "FAQ" is not used, so far! Have we now got so much experience of Immunet, so that we can start items (posts) in the FAQ thread?

The FAQ part of the Forum should be handled only of experienced Administrators, not by laymen members at all!

Cheers,

Hi,

We tried in the beginning of August 2010 to develop FAQs, but we failed. Now we have so many well developed threads with topics, that the FAQ category might be developed, at least started! By having FAQs well developed with well formulated ANSWERS & REPLIES, we do not have to post so many questions any longer. Instructions regarding analyzis of false postives, malware reporting, etc might now be placed in the FAQ category! This forum is daily getting newbies and studying the FAQ category will help them a lot and lighten the workload of mods & admins!

(Next step is to develop an Immunet tutorial or manual!)

Cheers,

sweidre

Hi,

You are right, I'll do more FAQs in a few days (now I'm busy with school), I'll throw down some planning for these steps.

For the manual, Etms51 is developing something similar.

Thanks again,

Orlando

Hi Orlando,

Thanks for your answer! Maybe development of FAQs and Manual/Tutorial can be started, at least! I hope, that Etms51 is informed about the idea to develop an enterprise version of Immunet (RodT told me that!). So I do not think, that we can finalize manual/tutorial until the enterprise version is developed!

Cheers,

This is a good idea, I will start trying to develop some FAQ answers too. Perhaps we could also gather some of the good answers that we have in the other forums and format them for the FAQ forum (giving credit to the original author)? What do yo think?

Good! But we must remember, that Orlando & I gave the idea to start FAQs (I think, it was in last August-September) to Millard! Millard accepted the idea, but after having started formulating some Q:s & A:s (Questions & Answers), Millard realized, that a similar work is already in progress by who? (It was at least an admin, maybe Alfred or Mo?) Millard gave a link to me to that work of that admin, and it looked very nice with images and all. But it looked like the beginning of a manual or tutorial, not FAQ! I understand, that Millard wanted to pause the FAQ work, because at that time, we had not answers to all questions. At that time, the Immunet Product was not ready, at all. The number of users were increasing, but not so fast, as today. The forum had only a few members, and we were not sure, that Immunet will survive. So, product development was then the main issue, not developing of FAQs.

How is the manual/tutorial looking today? Is anybody continuing that work? (RodT mentioned that maybe an Enterprise edition of Immunet will be developed.) If the work with the manual/tutorial is still under progress, the FAQs can be developed in parallell. On the the other hand, it is easier to start with the FAQs. First just list the Q&A:s as they comes, later on when they increase in number, they must be grouped into categories. This FAQs work, will then be a good starting point for the development of tutorial/manual. One problem is that the number of admins/mods are decreasing whilst the number of members in the forum increases with additional newbies every day. Admins/mods must support the increasing number of members and there is a risk that the FAQ will be just started put aside again. Supporting the members comes first. It is thru that work that FAQs will appear. (Not the other way around!) How many admin/mods is Immunet planning to have?

Bye for now!
