bvamundsen
I was having a problem with upgrading from "free" to "Plus" (covered in another support forum here) but the solution was to correct my ISP provided router to allow for TCP/UDP port 50, 83, and 32137 to be allowed "out" to the Internet. I found this clue in the beta support forums. My setup is DSL with QWest, now CenturyLink. and their Q1000 Modem/Router. The router's function has a firewall, that firewall has a filter list which did not allow out the above ports and once I changed the setting everything connected and upgraded without trouble. This is a note for others to check their firewalls, both software and hardware! Also see the articles in the forums and FAQ's about how to setup common software firewalls like Windows built in firewall and AVG's firewall if you don't have a hardware firewall to configure. Hope this helps others, it only took me three days to realize what was happening. I suspected a problem with the Internet because the IP Plus was telling me I wasn't "online" when attempting to upgrade and I when attempting to login to the My Community it would say "an unexpected error occurred". The Support Diagnostic Tool logs were saying there was a clientpipe error. It was all pointing to the Internet connection wasn't completely working for IP Plus requirements. ritchie58
Hi Brian, glad to hear you were able to figure out what was causing your connection problem! Obviously your diligence paid off! Other users have encountered similar situations when their behavior blocking software or firewall of choice was blocking Immunet's processes from connecting to the internet. I think your hard work resolving this issue may be helpful for other users who encounters a similar situation. Always make sure agent.exe, freshclam.exe (if you use the ClamAV module) and iptray.exe has internet access! Regards, Ritchie...
bvamundsen
Just so everyone who is looking finds the full answer to firewall port allowances. The port number used for cloud communication is indeed 32137/TCP. 80/TCP (HTTP) and 443/TCP (HTTPS) are for "my community" communication. 53/UDP is also needed for DNS lookups." So keep those ports flowing by opening up both software and hardware( ie routers and modems that have built-in firewalls).
