brucefidalgo
http://www.softpedia.com/reviews/windows/Panda-Cloud-Antivirus-Review-281548.shtml i just tried out the free pcav and soon got rid if it. it must have been scanning pgm's when starting cuz launching chrome to bring it up was real slow. The best combo for me is avast free with file, behave and script schields on with any pgm scanning turned off. With KAV with hacker stuff turned off and Comodo F/W and Def+.. ritchie58
I can't get Panda Cloud 2.0 to install properly. I updated from the 1.5.2 version. The installer uninstalls the old version first then installs the newer version. After updating the System Tray icon would load but clicking on the icon the GUI would not load and the program (PSUNMain.exe) would crash. I had no problems updating other versions, and yes, I did do malware scans to make sure that wasn't the problem. Also looking in the All Programs directory folder shows it's empty but looking at the Program Files directory folder appears everything was installed. Very weird. I tried installing several times by disabling Immunet and Comodo but nothing worked. I then went to their support forum and tried everything that was suggested including trying the off-line installer. Still no luck. That's a bummer too since I was given a free one year activation for the 2.0 version. Installed AVG instead to run along side of Immunet for now. Now AVG's All Programs directory folder shows empty and the uninstaller is not working. I fear that Panda's bootstrapper installer has caused permanent damage to some install/uninstall and other System Files. I tried to correct that by System Restore, Backup Image, Rescue Disk using the cmd command for SystemFileChecker, HD ChkDsk, and Microsoft's Fixit tool with no success. I'm afraid what's going to happen when I update anything else now. I may have to reformat my whole Operating System because of this! Very disappointing considering I've been using Panda Cloud for several years since the first 1.0 public beta release. Anyone have any ideas I haven't thought of or suggestions? ritchie58
I finally got 2.0 installed! I think it was Comodo Internet Security's Defense+ feature that was at least partly if not completely to blame. I suspect that Defense+ was not allowing or corrupting some RarSFX files while they were being unpacked during the install process and there were left over, corrupted files from the numerous uninstalls which interfered with the AVG install. AVG installed and worked but exhibited the same odd All Programs behavior which leads me to believe this. After trying one more time I first used AVG's removal tool as the uninstaller was corrupt and would not work. Even then there were numerous folders and left over registry keys from both AVG & Panda that I had to hunt down and manually remove. After that I completely disabled CIS's Defense+ and ran the 2.0 offline installer again which worked this time. The GUI loads perfectly. It even took the activation key so now I have the Pro version! There is one thing, the All Programs folder still shows empty but I guess I can live with that if it continues to work normally. It's apparent to me now that Defense+ keeps chugging merrily along even if you exit the program! It has to be manually disabled through the GUI. Geez! What a hassle though! ritchie58
After a reboot the All Programs folder options are now all present and accounted for! Everything is as right as rain now thankfully!
Cloud
i just tried out the free pcav and soon got rid if it. it must have been scanning pgm's when starting cuz launching chrome to bring it up was real slow. The best combo for me is avast free with file, behave and script schields on with any pgm scanning turned off. With KAV with hacker stuff turned off and Comodo F/W and Def+.. It is recommended to run a full scan after installing Panda Cloud so that the cache can build up. After installation, Panda starts scanning and stacking info into its cache. The cache is what speeds up scanning speeds and improves performance. Also be aware that in the recent past there has been issues between Panda Cloud and Comodo Firewall that made them incompatible with each other. ritchie58
Thanks for the heads up on that Cloud. I guess I was a little presumptuous when I thought the installer had caused system damage and I apologize for that. I "was thinking" the worst had occurred at that time, but can you blame me. Murphy's Law usually prevails, lol! It's good to know that full scans will stack the cache which will result in faster scan times. Does that apply to optimized or custom scans as well do you know? Actually, the first full scan time was not that bad and that was even with scan compressed files enabled! I did run a full scan shortly after installation and a good system cleaning which only took around 40 minutes. I have to say that I'm very very pleased with the efficacy of Panda Cloud and Immunet. Having the benefit of not one but two clouds protecting you and both programs being very light on system resources. Just exclude each others Program Files folder in their respective Exclusion List and they play very nice together. In retrospect there was some conflict issues when Immunet first incorporated the ClamAV engine into the product. In fact it was a very similar situation that was encountered with Comodo's Defense+. When the next Panda rollout came at that time ClamAV was quarantining the RarSFX files before they had a chance to be unpacked. This issue has since been resolved with Immunet of course. ClamAV was included so all users of Immunet could have off-line scanning capabilities primarily and an extra detection engine too but I see from the release notes the Panda Cloud has made some off-line scanning improvements as well. Since I have a Pro license and Panda now has a firewall I'm now debating weather to try that or stick with Comodo. I do like Comodo for it's numerous configurable settings, transparency and easy rule creation especially for outbound connections. Is there a page where you could find some specs and maybe some screenshots to view regarding the firewall?
Cloud
Does that apply to optimized or custom scans as well do you know? Yes it does. There is also the option to enable background scanning but does not necessarily replace the need for full or optimized scan.

ritchie58
Yeah Bruce it makes me wonder sometimes, lol! Like I said in the other thread about Murphy's Law. If something can go wrong it will!
ritchie58
I didn't think to use TaskManager to see if there were any of Comodo's running processes still active and kill them after exiting the program. That would of saved me a lot of time I bet. Oh well, live and learn I guess.
