Updating Community Personal Details

Recommended Posts

When we remove all those features. Will there be 1 big community made up with all the immunet users. Be cause I know that immunet is based on this.

Basically yes, and that's already in place which is the reason the community feature in the UI doesn't serve any additional purpose.

Regardless if you have 0 or 1000 other users in your personal community you still get the same protection from the cloud engines unless you have these engines turned off or your computer has no internet access. So as Francis pointed out the personal community feature of Immunet is a bit redundant now.

Don't forget folks that Immunet was "one of the first AV's on the planet" to use cloud technology! I could be wrong on this but I think Panda Cloud was introduced a few months before Immunet as I was an alpha tester using a VM machine for several months and was already public beta testing the first 0.8 version of Panda Cloud for several months more when I read an article about Immunet on CNET but I think that Immunet has the distinction of having a "first" final public release rolled out, the rest is history, lol! If I'm wrong on the timeline feel free to correct me. Anyway...

Immunet's personal community did serve a purpose in the early days of Immunet when there wasn't, as yet, that many users connected to the cloud. It helped in quicker detection of and protection implementation for new forms of malware being seen by the much smaller cloud community at that time and as an incentive to invite family & friends to join the cloud to increase the number of users. After all, the more people connected to the Immunet Cloud the better the protection for all Immunet users!

This feature did make Immunet "quite unique compared to other AV's" but if it's no longer needed I would concur to no longer use this feature in the next build. Plus there are some bugs associated with the personal community feature that never got ironed out and if eliminating this feature results in improved system resourse usage, performance or stability so much the better!

Cheers, Ritchie...
