Default Exclusions

Recommended Posts

The current default exclusions are there for two reasons:

1) Exclusions because we FP when scanning other virus solution definitions

2) We exclude things that take long time to scan with no protection benefit. An example of this is %WINDIR%\Prefetch. The Prefetch folder is internal for windows processes and the files are somewhere else on the disk.

For you paranoid individuals, we allow you remove these exclusions and most people will remove the anti-virus exclusions for products they don't installed.

Microsoft has some recommendations for enterprise setups but shows excluding can be necessary. http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb%3Ben-us%3B822158&x=11&y=11

I use Miro to handle podcasts etc. Unless I exclude sqlitedb it will pop up a msg. saying "Miro is unable to save its database" with option of retry or quit. Miro use that file intensively. So much some think there is something wrong ;) sounds like hd thrashing. No problem after exclusion.

Another one which might be recommended, look it up at Virtualbox forum, could be *.vdi extension. Actually any extension from vm´s. Not up to Immunet to predict what is optimal but something to keep in mind when there are problems.

I have also added the "recommendations" from Malwarebytes http://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?showtopic=10138 at the bottom. Immunet not mentioned but not needed.
