End Of Truecrypt?

Recommended Posts

Hi Sveni, my Win 7 Ultimate x64 OS does include the BitLocker Drive Encryption software. I had a serious problem with it and no longer use it. One drive that I have is used only for music files, of which I have a fairly extensive music library, nearly 13,000 properly tagged tracks. I was using BitLocker to protect this drive from unauthorized access when one day, out of the blue, I "could not" unencrypt the drive. "Oh no!" It wasn't accecpting the same password I had used for well over a year! The motherboard's TPM encryption key had become corrupted for some unfathomable reason! Luckly I had made a backup of my music on an external drive for just such an emergency because of the time and money involved! Since I couldn't access the drive at all I did a full disk format and installed the music files back on the drive. Because of this I no longer trust BitLocker and don't use it.

If your looking for a free folder encryption program there's My Lockbox. http://download.cnet...4-10789387.html The free version only hides one folder but you can create as many sub-folders or files as you want within that folder.

Something else worth mentioning, if you use "any" encryption program it's "very important" to unencrypt any drives, folders or files before running a root-kit scan with Immunet Plus. If you don't these encrypted files may be seen as Stealth Items and then quarantined.

Cheers, Ritchie...

Hi Ritchie,

Thanks for the hints.

I would like encryption of all disk partitions, including the system partition.

I think DCrypt that can. I still want wait, then try it.

First Lavabit, now TrueCrypt. http://www.theguardi...n-snowden-email

What thinks Amerika? What you think?

Forced? Hacked? Serious defects?

best wishes

Sven

Hi Sven, have you read the two newest topics yet? It looks like Immunet might be going the way of the dinosaurs too thanks to Cisco! I'm not at all happy with this decision to end support for the Plus version of Immuent! I'm sure a lot of users will look at this in a very negative light which doesn't bode well for Immunet's continued existance as I currently see it. What a shame!

Hi Ritchie.

Yes, unfortunately, as you see. ;)

To find replacement will be hard ...

I still have two years Immunet plus.

Is it the period still safe?

It will not be answered the questions in the other thread I think.

Do you mean Development (new/amendments) Support will end very shortly or

do you mean that Technical (problems/issues) Support will end very shortly?

Assuming you meant the former then the remaining (apparently approximately

three million) group of IP3 users will be using or saddled with a non-updated

security product that is mothballed. Effectively frozen in time or sealed in

aspic - never improved and never ever likely to be properly patched!?

Now, do we know a story about that one children? ...think Microsoft XP.

I purchased the full 2yr/3pcs package a mere two weeks ago so I am

considering whether Cisco/Immunet Plus 3 are likely to honour their

apparent 30days cancel promise. To whose email address would I

or do I address this?

Would YOU have the confidence to use or otherwise trust an

anti-virus, anti-malware or rootkit detection tool that is no longer

current or being developed? Consider your answer against the

arrival of the next new or amended zero day exploit! Even against

the apparently tricky GameOverZeus thing being promised to hit

us all in less than two weeks? Two weeks being the assessed time

that the authors are likely to take to renew all the stuff the whatever

hats took down so very recently.

Hi guys, actually it was the Immunet Development team that decided to go with just the free version and not any coroprate decision by Cisco and I applogize for any inconvenience that may have caused.

I was told that the free version will be the primary focus and continue to be developed for the forseeable future. There's talk of adding some of the Plus features into the Free version in a future build. Thers's nothing definite right now as this is just in the very preliminary stages as to what changes might take place. I would like to see the Email Scanner added to the Free version!

Any Plus licenses will be honored and the detection definations for TETRA will continue to be regularly updated for the life of the license key as is the case now. Technical support for the Plus and Free versions are not going away nor is this forum so you needn't worry about that! As far as any major build upgrades for Plus users I seriously doubt that's going to happen though.

Best wishes, Ritchie...
