Dear Valued Customer,

This announcement is to provide notification that we have begun the end-of-life process for Immunet Plus. While this announcement marks the end of Immunet Plus, Cisco is committed to a community-based approach to advanced malware protection for both home and personal use. As proof of this commitment, Immunet Free will continue to be available for consumer use.

Immunet Free includes real-time online protection through the Immunet Cloud including detection and removal of bots, viruses, worm, trojans, keyloggers and spyware. There will not be a replacement paid product for Immunet Plus; however, development and support of Immunet Free will continue and expanded in the coming months.

The next good software is dying!

Questions:

How many freeuser are there?

How many plususer are there?

Be taken over PlusFutures?

-Detects Advanced Threats?

-Protects All Emails from Viruses?

-Protects Archived Files?

-Removes Rootkits?

-Deep Scans?

-Advanced Packer Support?

-Scheduled Scanning?

unhappy regards

Your rather vague explanation only leaves more questions than it answers. "I believe all Plus users of Immunet" at the very least "deserve a detailed explanation" as to why this decision has transpired instead of some cookie-cutter, generic corporate lingo. "Full disclosure would be the decent thing to do!"

You say Cisco is committed to a community based approach but it seems more like a rather disheartening day for the "Immunet Plus Community!"

Who would have thought that throwing the baby out with the bath water would be a sound corporate strategy. Go figure!

Sven,

There are no intentions to eliminate Immunet or have the product die.

Currently over 3 million users are connected to the Immunet cloud. The further breakdown of Plus vs. Free installations is not made public.

Although there is no specific timeline yet for each of the features in Immunet Plus, the Immunet Team will evaluate each for possible inclusion into Immunet Free, where applicable and possible. Details of future Immunet releases will be forthcoming and announced through community announcements.

Ritchie58,

I am sorry that our announcement left you with more questions than answers. I would be glad to answer any specific questions you may have.

Please do not hesitate to message me directly on the forum - questions that come up would be fair game to add to the FAQ, where appropriate.

The decision to end-of-life Immunet Plus revolved around many factors. In reviewing the functionality of our Immunet Free and Plus products, the Immunet Team decided the best approach is to focus development, research, and support efforts on a single Immunet product utilizing our cloud-based, community approach to security. We feel this path will allow us to grow Immunet Free and more effectively protect personal and home-use customers against difficult, constantly evolving, advanced malware threats.

From a feature perspective, we are evaluating the features and components of Immunet Plus to figure out how to be bridge the gap into the Immunet Free product if possible. There is no specific roadmap on those changes, however the Forum Announcements will be used to communicate out future release plans and details.

Hi Francois, you definetly have a valid point there. There no longer is a need to have banners to purchase the Plus version included with the GUI. I'm sure that will be one of the first things that gets fixed in the next build roll-out. Perhaps a completely new GUI even! This is being given some thought.

Hey Ritchie, fblais,

I'm not on the development team so I'm not sure what and when the features will be integrated over to Free but I know that the banners and ads will be removed at some point. From what I've heard there should be a minor update starting to roll out by the end of the month. I don't really know the details of what it contains but I think it's a minimal one. There may not actually be any noticeable differences on the front end.

Thanks for the update on the upcoming roll-out Reg.

Francois, I was never too crazy about the side banner for the Free users. It always seemed a bit redundant to me as there was a means to upgrade to Plus included with the GUI. Just my opinion anyway.

  • 2 weeks later...

I just received an update to my PAID version of Immunet Plus. It has reverted to the FREE version, does not have an option to enter my license key, and has that annoying banner pop-up to upgrade. My Plus features are also no longer working.

How difficult will it be to have my 3-PC license REFUNDED?

Hi LinuxNinja, you certainly are not the only one encountering issues after updating to the 3.1.12.9665 version. I managed to get it to install properly and accecpt my Plus license key after a few hours of trying just about everything. Check out this topic. http://forum.immunet.com/index.php?/topic/2586-immunet-updated-to-version-31129665/ You are welcome to contact Support regarding this if you wish at this URL. support@immunet.com

  • 1 year later...

If the Immunet Plus 3 is EOL/EOS then why does the software nag the customer to purchase it?

I just did a brand new install and it is trying to direct me to purchase the Plus product. The link is the EOL notice. This isn't a good sign at all. Is there no one at the helm that can clean up a simple, yet very confusing issue?

Extremely odd.

Hi davparker, It has been a bit of time that has gone by and no change to the GUI yet. In fact there hasn't been any major new build public release in some time. And you are right, it does confuse some folks that the banners for the Plus version still exist when the GUI is launched. I "always disliked" that side banner. Well, one can only hope that a new build is soon forth comming that will address this issue once and for all!! When that will be I have no info on that but one of the developers did tell me a few months ago that a new build is in the works.

Best wishes, Ritchie...
