Tonight I got a new build of Immunet pushed to me through the UI. The install went smoothly for me with no reboot necessary.

You can click on the 'Update Now' tab to see if you can update through the UI too.

If you wish to download the newest installer package here is a link for that. https://download.immunet.com/binaries/immunet/bin/ImmunetSetup.exe

What changes have been made with this build is not known 'at this time' as there has been no new topic posted in the Announcements section regarding this update.

Hi Vladimir,

Usually when a new build of Immunet is publicly rolled out the newest build of ClamAV is incorporated as well.

I see what you mean though. The newest ClamAV build is currently 0.105.1.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention!

Hello John,

Immunet only uses a boot-strapper installer that requires an internet connection. There is no 'off-line' installer packages available to the public anymore.

This is for security reasons. An off-line installer package can be hacked into and/or changed by the addition of malicious code. This actually happened to Piriform's CCleaner installer back in Oct. of 2021.

Hello All,

I think this is the right thread to report my findings on the new 7.5.8.21178 build of Immunet.

I too got it pushed through UI & i updated it. post update the flash scan wasn't running and kept giving an error. i couldn't capture the error but then i rant the complete scan

when i triggered the scan, MS Defender went up and spit out the attached notifications.

So, my question is: Is this build valid or is it a hack? Cause i see defender detected it as PUA:Win32/Presenoker

appreciate soonest response

Hi bpraj,

What you encountered is Defender flagging ClamAV's malware detection update files as possibly malicious. This is a False Positive.

It's a great idea if you create an exclusion for 'Immunet's entire Program Files folder' with Defender. That will go a long way at avoiding future FP's between Immunet & Defender.

Here's a Windows doc regarding how to create exclusions with Defender at this link. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/security/defender-endpoint/configure-exclusions-microsoft-defender-antivirus?view=o365-worldwide

Best wishes, Ritchie...

Hi Vladimir,

The link to this Support Documentation topic will tell you some things you can investigate yourself. It could be that one or more of Immunet's processes are being blocked or interfered with by your firewall or other installed security software. If that happens it can cause Immunet to not update properly.

"Well, isn't that a little odd!"

Just glad to see that Immunet is updating now, that's the most important thing of course!

There is a way you can make sure that Immunet is connecting to the internet when it launches at startup, turn on 'Cloud Notifications' in Settings.

With this feature enabled you'll get a little popup notification when Immunet connects to the ETHOS & SPERO cloud engines. Personally, I always use this feature enabled.

To turn this feature on first open the UI -> Click on Settings ->  Scroll down to the Notification Settings tab & click on that -> turn on Cloud Notifications.

Let us know if you run into any more problems with Immunet not updating Vladimir.

Best wishes, Ritchie...
