choicevoice
i just installed immunet and i am curious as to why, on the bottom left corner of its gui (above "installed antivirus product"), it says "avira antivir guard"?
ritchie58
Hi choicevoice & welcome to the Immunet forum, I use Immunet as a companion AV to another AV product and don't see what you're seeing with the GUI (see image). Can you make a screen shot of the GUI (like I did) & include it in another thread to this topic? That would be great if you can do that for documentation. Do you currently have or previously had Avira AV installed on your device? Cheers, Ritchie...
choicevoice
you bet. as you can see, my bottom left corner is different then yours.
choicevoice
oh, and i don't have or haven't had avira installed. So, does immunet usually display your primary AV in that location (with immunet being your supplimentary)? Edited January 6 by choicevoice
ritchie58
Ok, that is normal behavior for the GUI if you have an "officially" supported AV product installed besides Immunet. What threw me off is that I've been using an AV for years that Immunet's UI doesn't show as an installed AV since it's an un-officially supported product. I'd simply forgotten that feature still existed! "My bad!" Thanks for the reminder actually! I do find it troubling that Immunet thinks Avira is installed if it's not or never has been, as you claim. You could look in your 'Program Files folder' to see if you have any sub-folder(s) associated with Avira just in case. Let me know if you find anything. It's not out of the realm of possibilities that this could be a bug with Immunet's code.
choicevoice
thanks. while i've never had avira i know they like to lease out their engine and i do use zemana antimalware premium: and who knows what it has under the hood. it originally claimed to be using 5 cloud based scanners ... so maybe it has some avira tidbits buried somewhere inside. i guess mystery solved.
ritchie58
I did a bit of research about Zemana and they do have working partnerships with a number of different cyber security entities. Like you say Avira very well might be one of them. Just glad that it seems that this isn't some sort of bug with Immunet then, that's good news! Thanks for quickly getting back to me with the new info, "much appreciated choicevoice!" Best wishes, Ritchie...
