Problem With Thunderbird

Hi.

Using Thunderbird under a LUA account.

I can't send emails.

I think I read somewhere (could not find anymore) that adding nsmail.tmp as a threat exclusion was the fix, but it still doesn't work.

Thanks in advance!

François

Perhaps you mean this: http://support.immunet.com/tiki-read_article.php?articleId=20 down there are problems with Thunderbird. However, that just put the file nsmail.tmp in exclusions. If the problem persists it can be another different problem, not on Immunet.

Thanks.

I noticed the temp file TB is creating can get a name like nsmail-1.tmp or even nsmail-10.tmp.

Is Immunet Pro only looking for nsmail.tmp?

If so that could be the problem.

François

It's only for the PLUS, but I raccomand to put in the esclusion this file also in the Free version.

I'm running PLUS, but that's not the subject.

Please re-read my second question:

Good find. Yes, that is precisely what is happening. We are hoping to have a fix for this in our next release in about 2 weeks along with rootkit protection for 64 bit. The issue is a Tetra engine issue.

Thanks Alfred.

Happy to help you.

I guess there's nothing we can do in the meantime to circumvent the problem?

(except disabling the TETRA engine, which means going back with the FREE version, so to speak)

Yes, I suspect you can. I will contact you directly to your account.

Hi again.

Any update on this issue, please?

Since then, I'm using the "net stop immunetprotect"/send email/"net start immunetprotect" thing, but hopefully a fix will soon be released.

I never encountered that problem with any other AV I used. (and I used many of them)

Thanks again!

best regards,

François

Hi all

I'm new to ClamAV plus

Straight away I noticed like Francois that the nsmail.tmp does not work, because of the nsmail-1.tmp or even nsmail-10.tmp naming, being created all the time.

To get around this bug just add file/folder and the whole temp folder

Probably not to wise but it will let Thunderbird work

I have just updated to the latest version (this morning) but the bug has not gone yet, shame, Thunderbird is widely used these days

It's still there.

I'm using the latest version since a while.

I'm trying, for obvious reasons, to keep exclusions to a minimum.

But thanks for sharing your thoughts.

At least I'm not alone with that problem.

(users of the free version are not affected, it's the TETRA engine that's involved)

François

I have just added the plus version to my second computer, windows7 64 version, I didn't need to add any exlusion to get e mails to work with Thunderbird : the other computer which I had to add the temp folder to the exclusion is a XP version

Update : after rebooting the computer after the install the problem as on the XP is there, so had to exclude the temp file

Please test this:

When you are ready to send the email, just wait a few minutes so that TB needs to save a draft and see what happens whe you try to send it.

If I do a very fast reply, it doesn't bug either because TB didn't need to save a file on disk.

Thanks!

François
