Guest Armin Pasalic
Well, I just got an up-and-running Virtuel PC. I use VirtuelBox. Now.. it's time to put a test.. Malware vs. Immunet. 1. I will do links against Immunet - If any Malware, I clean them off with HitmanPro 2. I will infect the machine, and see if Immunet catches something. WISH GOOD LUCK TO ME, AND IMMUNET PROTECT! Guest Armin Pasalic
Report - I'm finding viruses to clean off. I have turned off Immunet, and will scan the virus folder. And... to be honest, I'm mad now. Half of the links don't work.. All pages down. Well back to work. Cheers!
Guest Armin Pasalic
Report 2 - I have found some more viruses. But do any of you know a Virus-Link website? PM me if you know.. Malware Check
Armin Pasalic, you could try to run the test again, to check if protection have been added now. It could be interesting to see how fast Immunet processes new malware.
Guest Armin Pasalic
You mean, against Zero-Day Threats? Half of them were Zero-Day. Cheers!
Malware Check
I mean the missed threats. Immunet have had some hours to add protection for them now.
Guest Armin Pasalic
Yeah. But the test machine is a bit.. I don't know.. Bugged. Still, I don't understand.. Why didnt the Blocking Mode catch in when I installed via LINKS? Cheers!
Malware Check
Someone please correct me if i`m wrong. If blocking mode is on, new files are blocked before they are scanned. If no threats are found, they will be released again.
Guest Armin Pasalic
That means.. that the server needs to improve how it scans. I always personnly likes Hitmanpro Cloud Server..
Malware Check
Nothing`s perfect . Immunet is doing quite okay now IMO, and i`m confident that we will see improvement when the cloud gets bigger.
senge
DONE! The test result will be uploaded. Admin/Moderators, give me permission to upload the results for the Public. Thanks! Here are the results from following ::: Links test, how good is Immunet Plus protecting against Downloadable Malicous Content. Cleaning test, how good is Immunet Plus at cleaning a PC with Infected files. Everything was Up-To-Date! Oups... Link-test: Catched 60%, missed 40% Scan-and-clean-up-test: Catched & cleaned: 73%, missed: 27% Poor results, really poor results... There is much space of improvement... Thanks for testing
Pedersen
Senge you are wrong, thats actually a great result against zero-day threats. Thats actually higher than any other AV I have seen scored.
senge
Sorry for that, I didn´t realized that the threats are zero-day ones... I know about av-comparatives. They have tested all the well known av´s, and 60% is on top... So, sorry again... But: I had a look inside the offered youtube video of malcontents post. What do you think abaout it? Perhaps a revenge of woodrows post (bluepoint live challange) in the panda forum???
Guest Armin Pasalic
I'm currently testing the free version. Side-by-side with an another Internet Security. Cheers!
Malware Check
I wouldn`t draw any conclusions about Immunets performance, before i see it tested by AV-Comparatives or AV-Test.org.
markusg
hmm to be tested by av-comp is not so important i think.... you have to pay money for such tests and every test bring other results, because you have other sample sets. the oldest samples in av-comp-test are i think 6 month old and you can not know if you find it in the wild... so take for exsample avira, 99,99 % detection but when i search and download new files, the detecion rate is much slower! you must have an good mixed set off samples and i do not think such test companys have such, because it needs a bit time do download all this stuff... immunet is not so large at this moment, and i think you can take the money for usefull things (development) and so on i find only such testers make usefull tests. http://www.westcoastlabs.com/ here the product is tested in real time and not in static tests. Tweak
Although slightly off topic markusg you make an excellent point about Avira as I recently used MDL to do some testing and found that Avira was not fairing very well with the latest offerings but that GData Total Care 2011 and Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 as well as Avast! Home Free all worked extremely well, of the three no one was perfect but I was blown away by the fact using the latest MDL links these three av/security suite apps were nothing short of amazing for detecting the system After each test I would run mbam fully updated quickscan and in every instance they had done a fantastic job of keeping the system clean. I am saddened my last few years with Avira are no longer, perhaps they will get back up there with 0 day threats and behavior analysis in the near future. As for IMP I love the entire concept but as I just recently posted in another area it really misses a lot and I have not seen anything nearly as good as the detections mentioned here (free version keep in mind) but really like the product and I install it on multiple machines as they pass through to encourage it's usage and growth, thanks for a nice free supplemental application, todays internet needs as much protection as possible. Malware Check
Immunet`s detection should be very high, with the Bitdefender/Tetra engine, and the cloud. I think the other applications performs better with 0 days, because of their web/exploit scanners. Immunet needs one
