CluelessGuy
Hi, I've installed Immunet on a PC running Windows10. All is fine, but I can't update the virus definitions. It keeps saying 'I'm to update' with virus definitions. Thanks,
ritchie58
Hi CluelessGuy, Are there two green check marks being displayed with the UI (see image)? If so, you're good to go! Immunet does auto update without the need for user input. If Immunet has already automatically updated and then you attempt to manually update later you may not need any new ClamAV malware signature definitions or upgrades at that time. Immunet auto updates (at the very least) twice a day has been my observations. Regards, Ritchie...
turban
I have a similar problem - I do not have two green checks: Mine says last updated on May 13, 2020, new versions available but when I click on "fix it" I get a message from Immunet Updater saying Immunet is up to date. RP13326
I am seeing a similar issue to the one described above. I've been running Immunet for several years, my wife updated her computer to 7.3.0 earlier tonight and it has said that she needs an updated ever since. When I updated my computer from 7.2.8 to 7.3.0 it is now doing the same thing. Click "Fix It" and get told that it is up to date.
ritchie58
Hello guys, turban, have you been able to update to the new 7.3.0 version? If you can't seem to upload the new files needed to update the build I would suggest you do a clean uninstall. When asked by the uninstaller if you plan to reinstall Immunet choose the "NO" option and proceed with the uninstall. You will have to reconfigure the settings to the way you had them and recreate any custom exclusions you may have been using. Then download this installer and do a new install. https://download.immunet.com/binaries/immunet/bin/ImmunetSetup.exe RP13326, after updating to the new build I did have to create a new allow rule for sfc.exe with my firewall. That's something you could look into. In fact it's not a bad idea for both of you to make sure Immunet's processes have internet access and are not being blocked by your firewall, another AV or some other security product. The processes that need an Internet connection are: sfc.exe - iptray.exe - freshclam.exe.
RP13326
Ritchie - I've added the three products to the firewall allow rules - no change. Rebooted, the device, double checked to make sure the firewall rules were still in place - they were. The application keeps telling me I need to update and there's no update available.
ritchie58
Thanks for the additional input RP! Try doing a clean uninstall & reinstall like I suggested to turban and see if that makes a difference. I will defiantly have my doubts that the ClamAV/update issues has been fixed if you guys have continuing difficulty after reinstalling.
Mark Smith
Yeah, mine is showing both boxes as ! and the update is saying that it hasn't updated since 23/05/2020, when I uninstalled, reinstalled it and then downloaded 7.3.0.11792
RP13326
A complete uninstall, reboot and reinstall seems to have corrected the problem. However, as an IT person I've helped a lot of friends and family install Immunet over the years - they are not going to be able to remove and reinstall the product. Part of the reason I chose it was the automatic notification of the update being needed and low maintenance for the end user of the machine. If I have to try and talk my Mother-in-Law through uninstalling and reinstalling....I may as well bite the bullet, make the multi-hour drive and do it myself, even with an overnight visit, that will be less aggravating than trying to get her into the control panel. UGH! So please, release an update ASAP!
ranythebard
I found a way to manually update clamav (from http://www.clamwin.com/content/view/58/27/), by creating a folder [C:\Users\All Users\.clamwin\db] then put daily.cvd and main.cvd into the folder. After that immunet main view will show updated version number at next launch. I am not sure if this was the root cause in my case but 2 issues I found: By default my C:\Users\All Users\ folder is inaccessible. I had to change the security permission by removing all users deny all permission. Creating folder starting with "." requires use of command prompt. However this does not enable auto update, albeit settings is, I still have to download the files myself. The immunet updater show downloading daily.cvd (7%, 15%, 22%) then always fails, saying 'unable to install updates, please try again later.'
ritchie58
ClamWin & ClamAV's scripting code do share the same scanning engine and malware definition update files so I could see where that may work to "manually update" Immunet's ClamAV module. Interesting workaround you discovered ranythebard!
