Ghost Rider
Dear Immunet: When I try to setup a scheduled scan I get the message "An unknown error has occurred" after I enter my username and password. How do you correct this problem? Thanks In Advance, Bill M
Rob.T
Hi Ghost Rider, try these: 1) Ensure you are entering the same user & password you use to login to your computer. 2) Ensure you actually have a password by going to Start->Control Panel->User Accounts. Edit your account if it isn't selected by default. If you have an option for "Create a password for your account," this means you're user doesn't have a password, and you will need to create one before Immunet will allow you to add a scheduled a scan. Note that as soon as you add a password, you will have to enter it every time you restart the computer. See this page for info on how to get Windows to autologin with a password - http://wiki.ljackson.us/Control_Userpasswords2. 3) Double check you are typing your password correctly by going to Start->Control Panel->User Accounts->Change Your Password. Type your password three times into each of the Current/New/Confirm boxes and click change password. If you have the wrong password you will get an error along the lines of "The password you typed is incorrect, please retype your current password." epaynedsm@gmail.com
RobT - I am having this same error. This is on my laptop, and I am almost always the only user. I log in with my Administrator account with a password, which I use to log in every time I use the PC. I have typed my password in correctly a dozen times to attempt setting up a scheduled scan, and get the same result as Ghost Rider did. I cannot set up a scheduled scan at all. Sounds like a common issue. Please assist. When doing so, the scheduled scan in Immunet should at the same time appear in the taskscheduler of your computer: (C:\Windows\system32\tasksch.msc) In the Taskscheduler you can then adjust more details. Check now first, that your Taskscheduler really works! If the Taskscheduler is corrupt, of course Immunet will report: "An unknown error has occurred"! Cheers, sweidre PS. Ritchie58 has just had a problem with his Taskscheduler but got it solved! DS.
cnsublett
Does Immunet plan to address the issue of users without passwords on their computers? I don't want to have to create a password just to schedule a scan. I'm not sure why this validation is required at all.

The Taskscheduler (at least in Windows 7) has an option to run schedules without being logged in! I have not used that option, so I cannot comment further! ritchie58
That certifiably is a valid point. Why the need to password protect the Scheduled Scan in the first place? I think the powers that be would do well to eliminate this, in my opinion, unneeded security procedure in the next build.
