CNET is taking a poll to see just what free AV is the most popular. The major players (AVG, Avast, Avira) are obviously in the poll and they included Immunet 3.0! Which I think is pretty cool! So click on the link and vote for Immunet to help get the percentage up! CNET Free AV Poll It's a great way to show your support! The poll will remain open until 11 p.m. PT March 3, and they wll look at the results March 4.

Hi, as Immunet has not yet attained the critical mass of users, a poll by AV users will not give any good scores for Immunet. An AV test should have given better scores for Immunet!

The address to the article is here:

Screenshot of today 27 Feb at 14:50 (GMT+1) is attached!

I have voted 15 times for Immunet, but Immunet still shows 0!

I have been using Immunet Plus , however I also am of the mind set that Immunet free is a top of the line product.(that's why I choose to go with the plus version). I also have MSE which replaced Kaspersky on both of my machines, and I might add that my current sub. to KIS ran untill 11/2011. Both machines currently using this combo operate very well.

That percentage can't be correct for Immunet! 0%? Come on, I don't think so! Is this poll rigged? It's really starting to make me wonder. Then again it could be a glitch in how the web page is displaying the results.

Hi Ritchie,

Personally, I think the 0% for Immunet was (is) expected. Reasons:

1. It is a poll amongst users, not a test!

2. The poll covers Free AV + Security softwares (incl. Firewall). Immunet has no firewall!

3. Of the 9 softwares all are well-known and used by millions of people, except Immunet! (Immunet has not done its marketing properly yet! Is Clam really contributing or is it a burden for Immunet?)

4. Cloud-based AV is still not so well known! (Many people regard cloud-based as a threat against security/privacy. So more info about cloud is needed)

Only comparison between Panda Cloud AV Free and Immunet is fair! Note, Panda has today in the poll 1% and Immunet 0%. (Panda is still more known than Immunet)

How should Immunet now act? Separate Immunet & Clam as two different products? Add a free firewall together with the AV module of Immunet? Reduce the %-age of false positives?

Cheers,

sweidre

I am not sure how that poll is being done but I find it really, really unusual that Commodo has a higher representation that Avast, AVG and Avira. Something is not right there by a long stretch. If they are just using cookies to track clicks I would hazard a guess at some click gaming taking place.

Hi,

The CNET poll is finished! (see attachment!)

Comodo was the winner with 42%.

Panda Cloud got 11%.

Immunet got 0%

How can Comodo & Panda increased their percentages during the last days, when the poll did not appear on the main page of CNET (download.com)?

The URL of the poll must have been kept by certain fans of Comodo & Panda and been given to many others to cast their votes the very last days!

I agree now with Ritchie, that the poll did not reflect the very correct situation!

Cheers,

sweidre

Well, I have to say I'm disappointed with the results. Immunet must have received less than 1% of the votes according to the poll which I find kind of infeasible. Maybe the other vendors used their forums and blogs to get the word out to vote. Who knows? I did try to get some enthusiasm going for this but it was all for naught I guess. On a brighter note, Immunet now has over 1 million users worldwide! That is a fact that the other vendors can't take away! Keep biting at their heels and Immunet will be one of the Big Dawgz some day soon!

Hi Ritchie,

Your conclusion is right! At least Comodo & Panda Cloud have possibly used their forums (fora) & their blogs to instruct all their members to cast their votes during the very last days! Immunet has been too passive regarding this aspect! In the Immunet forum, there were at least three threads about the necessity to cast the votes for Immunet, but the URL of the poll was not highlighted! Then remember, that of the million members of Immunet only a fraction is taking part in the forum itself. The staff, mods, or admins of Immunet have missed to tell the majority of members to vote.

Immunet staff should in my mind advertised about the CNET poll in some of these ways:

1. Used the front GUI "Notices -> Blogs" giving the URL,

2. Temporarily changed the bottom of the GUI "Maximize Protection" into information of the poll URL, or

3. Sent official E-mails to all million members instructing them to participate in the poll!

Now, Immunet has missed the oppurtunity to really be marketed in CNET this time! It a pity!

Cheers,

sweidre
