Pete
Just wondering what would make one's protection factor decrease. Last month my protection level was 4025 and today it is 858. The only change that I am aware of is the the number of people protected, which has increased from 24 to 25 people. Pete

Pete Hi Pete, It seems, that the Protection Factors are decreasing for many members nowadays. For many the Protection Factor = 0! Strange! The overall community has surpassed 1 million members, which means that we are all better protected for every day! The calculation method of Protect Factor should therefore be revised, so that it will better reflect the improved protection status for everybody! I agree that the protection factor should be increasing as the number of one's community grows. Does this mean that one's protection is decreasing or is it a flaw within Immunet? Does this mean that one's protection is decreasing or is it a flaw within Immunet? Pete Hi again Pete, Of course, the protection increases when the number of one´s community grows & when the whole of Immunets community grows. So in my mind, we should now all be better protected every day. Immunet should now really redo the formula for calculating the so called Protection Factor to better show, that we are better protected now than before. (Presently the Protection Factor decreases instead). I hope, that an employee of Immunet will pass thru here, and be triggered to redefine the calculation formula. ritchie58
Yes it is strange that some users are showing a 0 protection factor now. I do wish someone from the Immunet staff would clarify the discrepancy if one exists. Or is it that the users that now show a 0 PF are no longer using Immunet as their anti-virus on their PC's? Hi Ritchie, Immunet staff should really redefine the PF. A high PF should imply, that the protection is high. We know, that the protection is high for all members, as the number of members out there are now 1 084 144 people protected from 21 447 600 threats. I wonder, why the PF now considers the individual "My communities". The overall protection of the whole Immunet communuty is the major thing, right?! Hi Ritchie, I thought also first, that those members with PF=0 have left Immunet. Have some staff been forced to leave Immunet due to the takeover by Sourcefire? But when I study the vertical list to the right of the chart, Adam, Mattias, Pedersen,Oliver, Mo & Alfred are still there with high figures. (PFs are not shown there, though). Especially I miss Pedersen (Denmark), because he had the highest PF of all, far higher than the others.) Cheers, sweidre
ritchie58
I agree with that. The overall protection of users in the community as a whole is the most important thing. However some clarification as to why our protection factors for our personal communities are fluctuating so radically would be much appreciated by this user. You're a prime example of that Sweidre. For a short while you had a PF of 0. Dave and Mathias are still showing a 0 PF.

For a short while you had a PF of 0. Dave and Mathias are still showing a 0 PF. I agree, provided that "My community" is still needed, yes! But I think, that the "My community" was created originally as a means to recruit more Immunet users in the early days, when Immunet had very few members. Now, Immunet has in total passed the critical mass >1 million members, and now Immunet has got so much publicity, that the number of members (users) will increase very fast by itself. Do we need "My community" any more? In my mind, Immunet has one total cloud only, that's all! That means, that all members have the same increasing protection from that common cloud only. That each member has his/her own cloud: "My Community" in addition to the major Immunet common cloud is impossible to believe due to extra administrative work! In addition, extra minor individual clouds are not needed! I am looking forward for a full explation about "My Community" & Protection Factor by an initiated Immunet staff member!
