ritchie58
That depends a lot on how you use your PC. If you engage in risky behavior that might get you infected but if you own a computer long enough chances are pretty good that eventually you may encounter a malware infection since they come from so many different sources such as web sites that install malware, a virus hidden in a software install package or rogue software (scareware), an email attachment, downloading files from a peer to peer service, security holes in programs, an infected USB device or external drive connected to your PC and the list goes on and on! So it's vitally important to keep your security and other software up to date for that reason, scan your system for malware on a regular basis and "always" have an active firewall running. Weather it be the built in operating system firewall or a third party application. I have been lucky enough to go years at a time without being infected. I attribute that to trying to keep knowledgeable about the current threats being seen in the wild and ways to avoid them. The old saying goes: An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure! sweidre
Does everyone seem to get a virus sometime or never ?? Hi ynotstrebor, I received one virus many years ago! I was using Norton AV by then, and a malware had made Norton AV not working at all. I tried Panda Antivirus, but after a while I skipped that one also, because Panda detected "false positives" & placed them in quarantine, so Panda hampered my Operative System by placing system files in quarantine, in spite of they were "false postives", so I changed to NOD32. NOD32 has never reported "false posives", knock on wood!. So quarantined "false posives" I regard as malicious as viruses! Cheers, sweidre
