rascal66
Hi, i'm new to this forum but i'm experiencing major issues that I've dealt with before and it seems to be that I have a Virus on my computer but Clam AV isn't picking it up. I don't know what to do and I may have to take my computer to a PC tech soon if this keeps up. What the Virus is doing, is constantly spamming me with "Virus detection threats" from My Windows pc itself, and it shutting off my firewall with out my say so. And it continuously spams me with shut virus threat notes, to but some windows Virus protector... Any suggestions? Please I could really use the help. Thanks! Hi rascal66, Have you tried to let any other AV - or AntiMalware products to scan you computer. There are many products doing scan online to detect malwares free of charge. Some of the products only detect the malwares and will not clean, qurantine or remove the malwares. But there are some products taking necessary measures also. I hope, that somebody will pass by here and give more detailed instructions. First the malware must be detected prior to removal! sweidre
Hi again, Hm.. Your computer is infected in some way or another, for sure! There is a good program called "HijackThis", that gives a report of Your computer. But I do not know, if the admins at Immunet can read and correctly interpretate the report, for proper actions. The procedure must often be done many times, to get rid of all malwares. But there are just a few people, who can read a HijackThis- report and take proper actions. Write a PM to Anthony, RodT or Orlando asking them, if they can. (HijackThis is a freeware issued by TrendMicro). Cheers & Good Luck, sweidre

But personally, my friend has suggested to download AVG for my computer and to see if that will work. If not then I'm not sure what to do. And reading from your last re-post as well, can you maybe send me a link to these members? And also, What exactly is a PM?

And reading from your last re-post as well, can you maybe send me a link to these members? And also, What exactly is a PM? Hi rascal66, 1. You have only used ClamAV, I understand. If you run another Antivirus program, you will get a second opinion. 2. If any AV program does not find anything, I suggest to use HijackThis, provided that Anthony, RodT or Orlando can read HijackThis report from you and take proper action. 3. Send PMs (Personal Messages) to these three guys and ask them, if anyone of them can read an HijackThis-. report from you and give you proper instructions to delete some row(s) in the report. Often this HijackThis must be done several times, if you have many malwares. You see, maybe any malware has destroyed your ClamAV, so that ClamAV does not work any longer. Anyhow, to send a PM to the three guys, must be done from their Profile Pages. For example, search for Orlando in the search field up to the right. (note, search on "members", not "help" or "forums" from the curtain menu in the search field.) When You have arrived to Orlandos Profile Page, you can send him a personal message from there: "Please, I need help regarding malware detection. Can you help me with for example HijackThis?" The same question, you can send to the other two guys. Your messages will pop-up on their screens, just when they have logged in to this forum. sweidre
Excuse me, and never mind about "what is a PM" that was slow of me. So am I just to ask them to read my PC for me basically? They will instruct you to download & install HijackThis first. Maybe they want you to scan your computer with another security software first (often Spybot SD is used). Then you will be instructed to run your HijackThis program, that will scrutinize your PC and finally give you a long report. This report has to be sent to Immunet (best way is to copy & paste it on a post on the Forum board.) Then you will get instructions to delete certain items. Then run HujackThis again, a new report, new deletion instruction and so on, until your computer is clean. This can take some days in total! rascal66
Alright, I sent them the messages. Thanks again, but I truly hope I can get this done soon cause I know that over time, this virus is only getting worse. The last time I had this similar Virus, and it nearly permanently damaged my PC. I just had to reset the entire PC to restore everything back to normal. But again, many thanks!
ritchie58
It sounds to me that you are infected with a rogue software (scareware). A fake anti-virus that is giving you that pop-up. This type of malware can sometimes be quite difficult to remove. A friend of mine made the mistake of installing a fake anti-virus, after which very similar symptoms were encountered, and eventually had to do a clean re-install of his Windows operating system since he found it impossible to get rid of. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but you might have to consider a clean re-install of your OS if a solution cannot be found.
ritchie58
With this type of malware sometimes it won't let you install an AV or if it does it renders the anti-virus software inoperable. One option you could try is using an on-line scanner. If you click on this link it will take you to a Yahoo search page where you have the option to use TrendMicro's HouseCall, ESET, Kaspersky Lab, Panda ActiveScan, Bit Defender and Norton on-line scanners. All will scan your system for free. Some will detect but not remove the threat but that will give you a name for the offending software and a good idea where the malware is hiding and give you a better chance of dealing with it. Most of these on-line scanners requires ActiveX permission to function. So make sure your ActiveX is enabled and just follow the instructions. I hope this will be beneficial if you decide to give it a go. Good luck rascal66, ritchie58...
ritchie58
Another option is to see if you can install Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. You can download it here. If you can get it installed and updated then reboot and enter Safe Mode without networking (press F8 during the boot process). Then run a full scan of all your drives with Malwarebytes. If on the other hand the malware won't let you install Malwarebytes try booting into Safe mode "with" networking and try downloading, installing and scanning that way. Malwarebytes has saved my bacon on more than one occasion.
